First 7 Questions

When I was searching for something, I wrote down question after question and tried to answer them as best I could. See, I was looking for anything to give me the go ahead to either leave God completely, or figure this whole thing out. But after finding my way back to the bible and ultimately back to Jesus, I realized the answers to all the questions started coming after I first came to terms with these 7 questions.

1- God Doesn’t Exist! Does He?

I decided that god probably did exist, not like Richard Dawkins who says god probably does not exist, I came to the point that god probably does exist.
Now I did this without using the Bible, because I didn’t believe in the bible yet, I used logic and reason, and the fact that I could reason it out, is what convinced me there is a god, because if there was a god he would use reason and logic, so I reasoned that whether god is personal, or not, god would be the REASON for the universe and everything in it, and so in many religions of the past they used the term “The First Cause” or “The First Thought” the first cause is to say whatever exists, had to have a beginning, so if the universe exists, it must have had a beginning, so whoever or whatever started it, that is god. Some might say “The Big Bang” created the universe, and I say “What started the Big Bang? And the best scientists in the world have either two things, either it always existed as this small dot with everyone condensed down, which I say “Where did the dot come from.” or they will say “Well we don’t know, but as Stephen Hawking famously said “The fact that a force such as gravity exists means the Universe can and will created itself.” So then, the universe is god. Because the universe created itself, and wouldn’t god be a self-created thing? See Hawking is brilliant, but he was angry at god for allowing him to be handicapped, so he was searching for any reason to explain away a god of love, but you see, the reason his gravity comment is wrong is because gravity is a result of the universe existing, gravity exists BECAUSE the universe exists, so he is saying the result is the cause, that means either the universe is god, which if he wants to believe that, then fine, but either that or there is another cause. See in reality, whether a scientist or Christian, or Muslim, it all comes down to a leap of faith, because we don’t know what started it, or how….. A Muslim says Allah is eternal and unchanging, he always existed, a Jew says YHWH or Adoni, a Christian says God with a capital G just always existed, He has no beginning and no end. Well guess what there are scientists right now trying to figure out a formula that allows for the Universe to just be eternal...so in other words, the universe is god for them….so the first question, Does God Exist? Yes, He probably does.s.

2- Aren’t All Religions The Same?

And with a single phrase one brushes away all the years and years of individuals in different countries, on different continents, in different ages, and a plethora of different levels of understanding that make up the totality of religions we see in the world today, and in the past.
After looking into Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, and Wicca, I went to Islam and I studied Islam for six months, I learned the 5 Pillars, I learned the entire life of Muhammad, I learned the Hadith, and I could tell I was closer, it fit with my conservative upbringing, but other things in Islam just didn’t sit well, so I moved on, and ended up studying Judaism, then Kabbalah, then I found myself back at Christianity, but I first explored Mormonism and Jehovah’s Witnesses, all seemed like they had something, but were still not right…..so I took out my bible that my parents had bought me when I was 13 years old, for my birthday I wanted an earring, so they agreed to let me get my ear pierced if I also got a Thompson Chain Reference bible to study. Well it took 14 years, but here I was, and so the one thing I know for a fact is that all religions are not the same, actually most aren’t even striving for the same thing, Buddhist are trying to escape Samsara, which is to say hurt and pain, so they don’t even take a stance on whether god exists they just want to live a perfectly balanced life so that they can die and the pain of living ends. Hindus want to achieve Nirvana through a series of lives following their own personal god of choice, but this is done through works and prayers. Islam means Submission, putting yourself under god and doing just one more good than bad in life in order to escape eternal hell fire. Get ten people in a room and try to get them all to agree on anything, now tell me how all religions are the same?

3- Don’t All Religions Lead To Heaven?

This should be more obvious than the others. If each religion is saying you have to do what they do in order to achieve their idea of Heaven, which isn't even the same concept, or the same place, then how could they all lead to the same place? Does a road map of New Jersey and a map of Florida lead to the same place? If I gave my brother a state road map of California with a destination of San Diego and started him in Orange County, then gave a map of Germany to my sister and started her in Munich and told her to find Berlin, Do you really believe those two will end up in the same place? And especially if you believe that the maps are true, if a person that is practicing Hindu tells you both Christians and Hindus end up in Nirvana/Heaven that Hindu can be ignored, because they don’t actually believe their religion, and why would you believe a person that doesn’t believe their own religion?

4- Why Follow Jesus?

This is one that you can test, but in the end you just have to take on faith, The reason I believe is because when I was searching through all the different religions, I was studying and I ended up back at the Bible and I said you know I just don't want to go back, I don’t want to go back, I grew up in Christianity, I gave my life to volunteering and building the church and they just threw me out the first time I messed up. I didn’t want to go back, but one thing that I missed during my 20s, that I had growing up was Jesus, so I took out my trusty red Thompson Chain Reference bible and I said “I want to see what Jesus says, for those who maybe haven’t read a bible, some bibles have the words of Christ in Red, so I looked for them because I wanted to know why my life was so terrible, and the first words are Matthew 3:15 “Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.” And that hit me like a ton of bricks, so I looked for the next red letters, Matthew 4:4 “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” THIS IS WHAT I JUST SAID, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, Matthew 4:7 “It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.” And I said “But God what can I do? How can I get over my unbelief?” and the next red letters said “Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.” Matthew 4:10
How? I asked God Matthew 4:17 “Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” I said repent? But why, will you let me do what I want to do? Fulfill MY dreams? “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19….and look where I am today? Then I said “But How?” Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Verse 4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
I dare you to do it, get a bible with read letters, of go to a website that has red letters like kingjamesbibleonline.org read just the red letters, you will fall in love with Jesus. Even a strapping hetero male will fall in love with Jesus.

5- We Don’t Even Know If Jesus Existed?

Jesus has 3 times as much historical proof than any other ancient person. Alexander the Great only has 1 mention of him that survived within the next 100yrs after his death, and only 3 mentions in 150yrs of his death, only after that did a lot of what we consider reliable text get written. Jesus has 41 writers and authors mention him within 100yrs of his death. 9 New Testament authors, 12 Christian authors who may not have met Jesus, but where disciples of the original apostles, and then there are still an additional 18 mentions in secular and Jewish sources, and yes it is true that not all of them say Jesus of Nazareth, but some mention a Jesus, some mention a Christ figure leading a religious sect of Judaism, others call Him the founder of a Jewish cult called “The Way” whose adherents claim he is a messiah or god-figure…...and so while they may not mention Him by name every time, they are referring to a group He founded, and besides, why would a man like Bartholomew also known as Nathaniel, get skinned alive for something he knew was a lie? When just admitting the lie, he would have walked away. For more on this read Lee Strobel’s A Case For Christ.

6- Do You Believe The Bible Is True?

Do You Believe The Bible Is True?
This is where the rubber meets the road, and you will have to just start really studying, or not, you can just drop it and ignore the bible, it's up to you. I set out to read the bible once in 90 days, I ended up studying it for 3yrr, and reading it in its entirety several times. There were a whole bunch of things I didn’t like in the bible, but they all went away when I was willing to look deeper, and try to understand. Remember the Bible is a History book also, so just because it says “A person did a thing” doesn’t mean it in endorsing it. When a newspaper writer writes about some horrific crime, do you think the writer is endorsing the crime, or just trying to do the best job they can to expose it? AND right here someone screams out, but there is genocide in the bible! And this is the tricky part, but if you have come to this point, if you believe there is a God, then that God has a standard. No matter what you think that standard is, every god will have one, Well the bible makes it clear, Genesis 9:6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.” if someone willingly kills another person in cold-blood, then that person’s is a danger and must be expunged from the land. Not accidentally killed, Exodus 21:12-14 "He who strikes a man so that he dies shall surely be put to death. "But if he did not lie in wait for him, but God let him fall into his hand, then I will appoint you a place to which he may flee. But if a man schemes and acts willfully against his neighbor to kill him, you must take him away from My altar to be put to death.” All those nations and cities of people in Canaan, they were practicing human sacrifice, and many, if not most were performing child sacrifice. They were doing perversions with animals. These people were murdering willingly. They needed to be removed to cleanse the land and the earth of the wickedness.

7- What About Errors In The Bible?

Honestly I thought that also when I first started studying. I believed there were errors galore. I remember when I went to college and the professor was handing out copies of “200 Errors is the Bible” written by some professor in some major university.
But I sat down and went through every single one of them, and yes, the bible I read is in fact an english translation of a Greek, Hebrew or aramaic original, but I can say after looking for the errors, there are none that I can find. Sure there are translations of words or sentences that to our modern english ears just don’t sound right, or don’t make sense, but when put in the context of the person writing it, its not an error just because you or I don’t understand it. And yes these new translations that have come out, the NIV and ESV type bibles do in fact have errors in them, but they were created BY translators trying to “fix” misunderstandings in the bible. Now I do not bash the modern translations, I own a copy of most of them, I do only use the King James to preach out of, and a New King James, NASB and Riena Valera spanish bible to cross reference, and for expanded word choice. But if you want to misunderstand something, you will. If you want to understand it, you can find a way, sure there are a few phrases and sentences that I wish the King James translated differently, but even with a hard reading, they are still correct.
